WebID

All ActivityPub actors are also WebIDs. Besides the usual ActivityPub predicates, they link to the user’s storage, to their SAI registries and to their contacts collections.

The WebID is public and acts as a public profile. The url predicate links to the user’s private profile (as:Profile), which is only visible to their contacts. Applications with the apods:UpdateWebId special right may add their own predicates to the WebID.

Keys

Every actor has two key pairs:

• A RSA key (publicKey), used for HTTP signatures, as most Fediverse softwares expect.
• An Ed25519 key (assertionMethod), in the Multikey format, used to sign Verifiable Credentials.

Webfinger

Webfinger allows to find an actor from a @username@domain identifier, as on Mastodon. This is what users enter on the Pod provider frontend to send a contact request.
